The Battle of the Late-Diagnosed woman begins

She wasn’t reckless, she tried for too long. 
She was late-diagnosed autistic and ADHD at the age off 41 — unmasking after motherhood, burnout, and years of over-performing.

Instead of support, a large organisation escalated. 

Her need for autistic clarity was reframed as misconduct.
Her vulnerability was used as evidence against her.
Process was weaponised. Duty of care disappeared.

She now had PTSD, no job and a reputation ruined with no job prospects in the same industry.

This is not one woman’s story.
It’s what happens when neurodivergent women collide with rigid systems built on implicit rules, hierarchy, and silence.

Late diagnosis doesn’t look neat.
It looks like burnout.
It looks like honesty.
It looks like being punished for finally being visible.

  • Protection against retaliation

This isn’t about revenge.
It’s about accountability, precedent, and change.

This journey has been incredibly difficult, but I am not letting this go. Every step forward requires time, energy and resources, but I remain committed to seeing this through.

This is no longer just about one person or one workplace. It is about challenging systems that continue to fail neurodivergent people despite having significant financial resources, extensive legal teams and public commitments to inclusion.

The latest Neurodiversity Index 2026 highlights a widening gap between what many banks believe they are delivering and what neurodivergent employees actually experience. In banking and finance, employers report strong policies and leadership commitment, yet employees continue to describe high performance pressure, microaggressions, a lack of psychologically safe communication and cultures that discourage disclosure. The sector is identified as one of the lowest-alignment industries, with a significant gap between policy and lived experience.
The consequences extend far beyond the workplace. When talented neurodivergent people are pushed out of employment or become unwell because of preventable organisational failures, the costs do not disappear. They are transferred to the NHS, the welfare system, local authorities and ultimately taxpayers. This is not simply an employment issue; it is an economic and social issue.

Real accountability benefits everyone. Creating genuinely inclusive workplaces means retaining skilled employees, reducing unnecessary sickness absence, improving productivity and reducing pressure on public services.

I am determined to continue pursuing justice through the legal process, not only for myself but because meaningful accountability can help drive wider change.

Our disability rights should not be up for sale! Especially at a discount.

A few days ago I received a settlement offer after raising concerns around disability discrimination and procedural unfairness.

A large institution with vast financial resources is now effectively trying to buy out my rights after a process that has had a devastating impact on my health, career and future in the industry.

This is bigger than one settlement.

If powerful organisations can push neurodivergent employees through prolonged distress and damage reputations and then quietly resolve matters through financial pressure and NDAs, nothing changes for the next person.

I do not believe disability rights should simply become something institutions can financially negotiate away behind closed doors especially at discounted prices.

I urgently need further funding for independent legal advice so I can properly assess my position and continue pursuing accountability through the Employment Tribunal process.

As this litigation continues to progress, I am continuing to incur ongoing legal costs relating to ad hoc correspondence, procedural matters, and ongoing engagement with the law firm involved. Awareness is being raised in many different ways. For some, that is through legal accountability and formal processes. For others, it is through sharing experiences, opening conversations, discussing the realities of navigating systems as neurodivergent individuals, or even sharing reflections and insights that help articulate challenges many people struggle to put into words.

In one way or another, every person supporting this journey is contributing to greater visibility, understanding, and accountability.

There is still a long way to go, but meaningful conversations are happening, and that in itself matters.
