Not Guilty!
We are delighted to report that yesterday the jury returned a unanimous not guilty verdict at the retrial of the 6 medics who took action about JP Morgan's continued investments in Fossil Fuels.
Just…
Please help four doctors and two nurses facing a trial who urgently need legal funds for their defense.
They are accused of criminal damage for breaking glass at JP Morgan investment bank in July 2022, the week of the UK’s first 40 degree heatwave. Their action aimed to communicate JP Morgan’s role in fueling the ‘medical climate emergency’ through its record investments in fossil fuels.

They face trial starting on 2nd Feb 2026.
Please help them now. Your donation will fund the group’s legal fees.
Our initial target is to raise £10,000, with a stretch target of £20,000. Funds raised will go towards, at least in part, reimbursing the Extinction Rebellion Legal Fund, who have been funding legal representation to date.

Not Guilty!
We are delighted to report that yesterday the jury returned a unanimous not guilty verdict at the retrial of the 6 medics who took action about JP Morgan's continued investments in Fossil Fuels.
Just before 1pm on Monday 16 February, after deliberating for 4 hours, the jury returned the unanimous not-guilty verdict for all six defendants after fewer than four hours of deliberation. The verdict was reached despite the jury being given no formal legal route to acquit. This outcome represents a powerful affirmation of democratic judgment and a decisive win for future generations.
During the trial, the defendants were clear that their actions were motivated by a duty of care to all, including those working inside the JPMorgan building. They argued that medical responsibility does not end at the clinic door when preventable harm is escalating. The medics described their commitment to medical ethics, and the oaths they all take to protect life as part of their job. The prosecution appealed to the jury that this was a simple case about whether or not the damaged glass was meant to be damaged. We will never know the jury’s reasons for being able to find the group not guilty, but it was clear they listened to the to the facts presented by the defendants about health, justice and care in an unprecedented time of irreparable harms done to our living planet and to our human family around the world.
Today’s verdict sends a clear message: when institutions of power fail to protect life, conscience, care, and collective responsibility still matter — and juries understand that.

Court starts
After a couple of days of waiting, we finally got news that the court case of the 6 will start today, Wednesday 4th Feb, but ‘not before 2 pm’. The final preparations are going on, and final pre-meeting with barristers at the courtroom.
We thank you all for the solidarity you have shown the team. They feel surrounded by care.
We have been so heartened with the generosity of people. We initially expected to only be able to raise £20,000 at a push, and so have to rely on XR legal to bridge the funding gap. Now we are in sight of £40,000 which would cover our costs including VAT! So we have raised our goal for the final time.

Court start date is delayed for the 4 doctors and 2 nurses
Dear Supporter
Late on Friday afternoon there was disappointment as the courtroom listings for Snaresbrook Crown Court came out. The team's case was not listed for Monday morning as expected. It is not clear now when it will be listed, but hopefully it will be in the next few days.
While the team patiently waits this out, we do want to celebrate the support! What lovely comments have been added to the donations. And the donations are now over £19000. Thanks so much. The eagle eyed may notice that we have raised the target to £25000. This is to help cover the ongoing legal costs, which keep mounting - but the team would be in a sticky place without the legal support!
One of the supporting donors posted this link to an article about JP Morgan's ‘Risky Business’ report that was leaked in 2020. The article says the report shows the world is seriously underestimating the adverse effects of climate change, and concludes “We cannot rule out catastrophic outcomes where human life as we know it is threatened”! And still the investments in fossil fuels mount up…
Please do keep talking about the trial and share the link for the page.
Many thanks

Just 2 weeks to the trial
Dear Supporter
Thank you so much for supporting the 6 medics facing trial. Their trial starts in just 2 weeks time, on the 2nd Feb 2026, at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London. This will be 3½ years since they took action to highlight JP Morgan’s continuing role in financing new fossil fuel extraction, despite the clear evidence that will result in catastrophic consequences for human and planetary health.
On the 5th January, the defendants had their pre-trial hearing, when the trial start date was confirmed.
In just the two weeks since the pretrial hearing there has been
The news of more climate records being broken; the UK average temperature for 2025 was the highest ever recorded, and globally 2025 was the third hottest year ever recorded.
Another report was published on the risks climate poses to world finances, this time from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries which represents the insurance industry
The leader of the opposition, displayed a serious need for some carbon literacy training by saying that ‘we need to tackle climate change’ and ‘we need to scrap net zero’ in the same breath. This is in spite of the informative National Emergency Briefing on Climate and Nature to which she, and all MPs were invited.
The 6 defendants are getting ready, they have now booked accommodation near the court and are making their travel arrangements. As they prepare, they are reflecting on how they can best bring their truth, love and courage into the courtroom, and to communicate clearly to the jury the threat the Climate Emergency poses to everyone's health and wellbeing.
Once again, thanks for your ongoing support that is bringing us ever closer to our fundraising target. All your help is gratefully received and, along with your words, gives the defendants the courage and determination not to be silenced.
Please do keep talking about the trial, and share the link for the page to help us reach our financial target. Now more than ever we all need to not be silenced.
Yours
