My name is Julie Ashall.

I am a member of the Women's Rights Network in Manchester and hold Gender Critical beliefs. I believe that sex is immutable, observed at birth and that a man cannot become a woman no matter what he believes.

I believe that Gender Identity ideology has no place in the workplace but that it is an ever encroaching and pernicious philosophy. It strives to strip away the hard won rights of women and girls and replace them with rights of entry, the right to be offended by biological reality and the truth, and the right to take by force that which wouldn't be given freely.

We have already seen the ever increasing encroachment into women's sports, the disastrous SNP Gender Recognition Reform bill, and the safeguarding failures of the Gender Identity Clinic.

I was dismissed from my role in Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce due to, I believe, my whistleblowing about gender ideology and because of discrimination against me due to my gender critical beliefs, and in particular disclosures relating to a high profile PR company that represents global and public funded organisations based in the region that the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce works with. I have therefore claimed against Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and have a trial set down for March 2024.

As a general point, I believe that workers should be free to point out the wrongs that are being carried out in a company or elsewhere without being subject to bullying, victimisation or retaliation. I believe that workers should be free from discrimination because of their views.

We have already had a preliminary hearing which has set down the next steps in my case. I have to file a schedule of loss and then carry out disclosure and exchange witness statements. As I say above, the trial is already set down for trial and we will have a resolution to my case by Spring in 2024.

We are raising an initial £1,500 in order that I can pay my lawyer for the time already spent on my case. If I am able to reach that target, then my stretch goal will be £50,000 so that I can take my case all the way to trial.

I have instructed Elliot Hammer who acted for Sonia Appleby in her successful whistleblowing claim against the Gender Identity Clinic.

I will keep you updated throughout my case to let you know what is happening.

I would like to thank you for reading my Crowd Funder. If you can please share it on social media, donate or even simply talk about my case and Gender Critical beliefs in general then I would be very grateful.

Update 1 - Thank you for helping me hit my target!

To: My Crowd Funders

I am so happy that the initial financial target of my crowdfunding has been achieved and I am so grateful for the lovely messages of support and the donations received.

We already have a trial date set down for March 2024, twelve months away and the next stage is preparation for legal bundles which we are currently working on. I am determined to fight this case with all the energy I can muster and your messages really do help to keep me motivated and to see the case right through to the end.

To date a lot of the focus about the gender critical debate has been focussed on organisations and events in Scotland or London and this case will I believe be the first to look at the networks that actively promote gender ideology in the Manchester area.

One area that this case will cover is the influence of the gender queer theory activists, the tactics they deploy against those that are identified as holding gender critical beliefs and their influence in local universities and other public funded organisations.

If we can get my case to trial then I believe that the judgement will vindicate my position and beliefs.

Thank you once again for all your support – please only give what you can afford.
