Who am I?

My name is Sal and I'm a mother who has always worked hard in my job. Despite this, I was discriminated against when I took maternity leave.

My case

I returned from maternity leave to find that my job role had been changed by my employer and they had failed to inform me of this. I was given a new job title and within three months of returning back to work my employer made this new role - and myself - redundant.

I followed the process of submitting an internal grievance but I was still made redundant and lost my job. The new jobs my employer was advertising were all full time with overnight stays on a weekly basis which I would struggle to do, especially having a young child to care for.

Why is this important?

This isn't just about me! Women across the UK are facing discrimination when they go on maternity leave or come back to work. It's shocking that in 2019 a woman would have to fear for her job security when having a baby.

Why am I raising funds?

I'm taking legal action to hold my employer accountable for this discrimination. I need to pay for a solicitor to draft forms and represent me at the preliminary hearing. This is the first stage to see if this can reach a trial.

Please donate what you can to my campaign and share it with friends and family on social media or by email. Let's make it clear that women cannot be discriminated against for taking maternity leave!
