I am the Mother of two Black twin girls. Both twins have disabilities which significantly impact their everyday life.

Who am I? - I am the Mother of two Black twin girls, aged 8. Both twins have disabilities which significantly impact their everyday life.

Summary - De facto exclusion from a London independent school because we sent emails to the school asking for reasonable adjustments for both children. Emails were sent because despite numerous requests for a meeting with the Headmaster, for four years,  to discuss the twin’s needs, a meeting was never provided either in person, or by Zoom. Perversely, the Governing Chair of the school’s appeal procedure is a discrimination lawyer.

Call to action - The school is insured with unlimited funds and therefore costs is no issue to them. I am a single Mother with my own disability. I am unable to work.

What are we trying to achieve? - We are trying to ensure the children are reinstated back at school. Despite the disability discrimination, both girls wish to return to the school. A precedent is urgently required to prevent unlawful exclusions on the grounds of race and disability. Private schools have been offloading black children in this manner for years.

What is the next step in the case? - The case is to be heard at the beginning of March 2023.

This is the first time a parent has ever challenged a private school for unlawful discrimination for two twin children.

The children will be represented by Mr Rory Dunlop KC of 39 Essex Street.

Our solicitor is Amara Ahmad of Doyle Clayton Solicitors.

We want to thank all our wonderful supporters who have contributed to funding this case. We hope that those who can afford it will continue to do so.

How much we are raising and why? - £30,000 to cover legal fees. They are urgently required. We have instructed leading silk to enforce the judgment of Proprietor of Ashdown House School v. (1) JKL (2) MNP [2019] UKUT 259 (AAC)

Any donation would be so gratefully appreciated by all involved. This is an extremely unsettling and unusual case where the mental health of two children and their mother are now affected. We wish to obtain a costs order in which case any funds contributed shall be returned.

We are unable to use the children’s pictures as there is an injunction in place as to their identity.
