My name is Nick Georges. I’m the man who, in June 2021, scaled a 380ft tower crane near the US Embassy in London, I stayed up there two days and one night and unfurled the Palestinian flag to highlight the continuing illegal occupation of their land. I am a pacifist, (albeit an adventurous one), a committed Christian and I cannot sit back and watch the unjust attacks on Palestine.

My case finally comes to court on June 17^th, 2024, three and a half years later and after four postponements. My previous fundraising has been used up on preliminary legal fees and I urgently need help to raise a further £5,000. In 2019, I spent 3 months in the South Hebron Hills, in the West Bank, as a Humanitarian Witness and Protective Presence, on the Quaker led EAPPI programme that supports local Palestinians in their daily life. I saw first-hand the gross violations of human rights that the Israeli army, as an illegal occupying force, inflicts on Palestinians. The bombardment of Gaza continues ferociously. This is not a war in the usual sense but rather a powerful (the fourth largest nuclear power in the world) and well-armed fighting force bombing a captive population. There are strong links in the armament trade between Britain and Israel, with many of our judiciary and government members holding shares in the arms industry. As it becomes clear that Israel has breached international law in Gaza, Britain is in line to be seen as complicit by providing munitions.

Elbit Systems is Israel's biggest arms company. They had 10 sites in the UK, three of which have been shut down as a result of direct action by Palestine Action activists. Elbit manufacture more than 85% of the Israeli army's drones, weapons and also produce white phosphorous bombs. White phosphorus is illegal for use in civilian areas. But there is clear evidence, provided by photos of the tell-tale streams of white light and from doctors who treat the horrific injuries, that the Israeli army uses them. In 2019 I witnessed the appalling aftermath of an Israeli Settler attack on a Palestinian family, where the family were burned alive by White Phosphorous. I came back from Palestine with PTSD. For two years after my return, I wrote countless letters to the Foreign Office and my MP, I have taken part in endless peaceful protests, I have given seven presentations to many assorted groups and organisations to raise awareness of the situation on the ground in Palestine. All to no avail.

People have been doing all this since 1948.

I genuinely feel that the so-called democratic process has failed in the UK.

In 2021 I went to a talk by Palestine Action where I was told that Elbit manufacture White Phosphorus. This struck a chord after what I had witnessed in Palestine and gave me the courage to step out of my comfort-zone and I decided to climb up onto the roof of Elbit’s Shenstone factory to shut it down. Elbit market their weapons as 'battle tested' on the captive Palestinians in Gaza.

U.S., German and UK-manufactured weapons are ultimately responsible for the genocide in Gaza.

In the last six months millions of us have been on the streets to urge our government to stop arming Israel. The world is now finally waking up to Israel’s genocidal war crimes. I was trying to raise awareness three and a half years ago to halt sales of British-made weapons to Israel. I am being taken to court for doing what our government should be doing and is Not, in direct contradiction of its duty to adhere to International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights. في عام 2021، ذهبت لحضور محاضرة أجرتها منظمة العمل الفلسطيني حيث قيل لي أن شركة إلبيت تقوم بتصنيع الفسفور الأبيض. لقد ضرب هذا على وتر حساس بعد ما شهدته في فلسطين وأعطاني الشجاعة للخروج من منطقة راحتي وقررت الصعود إلى سطح مصنع شينستون التابع لشركة إلبيت لإغلاقه. تقوم شركة Elbit بتسويق أسلحتها على أنها "معركة تم اختبارها" على الأسرى الفلسطينيين في غزة.

إن الأسلحة المصنعة في الولايات المتحدة والألمانية والمملكة المتحدة هي المسؤولة في نهاية المطاف عن الإبادة الجماعية في غزة.

في الأشهر الستة الماضية، خرج الملايين منا إلى الشوارع لحث حكومتنا على وقف تسليح إسرائيل. لقد استيقظ العالم أخيراً على جرائم الحرب التي ارتكبتها إسرائيل. كنت أحاول رفع مستوى الوعي قبل ثلاث سنوات ونصف لوقف مبيعات الأسلحة البريطانية الصنع إلى إسرائيل. لقد تم تقديمي إلى المحكمة لأنني فعلت ما ينبغي لحكومتنا أن تفعله، وهو ما لا يتناقض بشكل مباشر مع واجبها في الالتزام بالقانون الإنساني الدولي وحقوق الإنسان الدولية. الرجاء مساعدتي في محاربة قضيتي ودعمنا خارج أو داخل قاعة المحكمة في محكمة ستافورد كراون اعتبارًا من 17 يونيو!
