"Yet another corner of unspoilt rural Britain is under threat from development in order to produce 'decorative stones'! "

We all care deeply about this AONB and all its wildlife and countryside and ancient trees and hedgerows which are under imminent threat from destruction by planning application WD/D/19/000451 to start a quarry in this AONB.

In addition the lives of residents would be severely impacted by (in some cases) quarrying 30 yards from their doorstep and all residents in many communities being subjected to up to 200 plus lorry journeys each day and quarrying activity from 7am until 7pm Monday to Friday and 7am - 1pm Saturdays.

This AONB will be destroyed forever if we allow quarrying now.

A short summary of our legal case:

To challenge and oppose and give Dorset County Council sufficient grounds to reject planning application WD/D/19/000451 to quarry in the Dorset Axe Valley AONB for non essential decorative sand and gravel.

This quarrying would destroy this ancient untouched landscape which is so valuable to wildlife and trees and hedgerows and was granted one of the strongest legal protections by the UK government to preserve this AONB for future generations.

We need to raise £7000 to be able to pay for legal planning and environmental and technical advice to effectively raise objections on behalf of the “Stop Quarry in Dorset AONB" action group to have the planning application rejected by Dorset County Council to protect the Dorset AONB, Axe Valley area.

We need your support to be able to do this. Please contribute for the sake of one of only 34 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England!

Please contribute and share this page now!

Our sincerest Thank you!

Your contribution and the fight to get this planning application rejected, matters now more than ever to protect the AONB from imminent destruction which would mean that this landscape will disappear for ever.

We are trying to preserve this precious AONB and outdoor space and landscape for all, including our children and grandchildren, to enjoy and spend time in one of the most beautiful, protected and special landscapes.

This AONB will be destroyed forever if we allow quarrying now

Next Steps

We need to submit our full objections by [27] August 2021 in anticipation of the meeting of the strategic planning committee of Dorset County Council scheduled for 10am on 6 September 2021 when the final decision will be made by the councillors of Dorset County Council.

All members of the “Stop Quarry in Dorset AONB" Action Group have been working and continue to work incredibly hard to save this AONB and hope to be able to count on your concern and support for this precious AONB.

Thank you

Update 2

Action Group “STOP the Quarry in Dorset AONB”

Sept. 9, 2021

We stopped it!!!

We had fantastic news on Monday as Dorset Council rejected the planning application and the AONB is safe for now! We are all still taking it all in and can’t quite believe what happened.

The councillors have understood that there is a climate crisis and that precious landscapes like the Axe Valley have to be protected now and for the future.

We don’t know if Aggregate Industries will appeal or if they will apply again. Who knows... but for now the AONB is saved!

We still need to raise more funds to cover the legal and professional fees we incurred over the past two months to fight this application, so please contribute if you can and continue to share our crowdjustice page as widely as possible to help us reach our target! The deadline for contributions is Monday 20 September at 9 p.m.

A big thank you for your support, reading this message and for any contribution you can give!

6th September - Dorset Council Special planning committee meeting

Our sincerest thanks to all of you who have supported us so kindly and so generously to allow us to get this far and achieve this great result to date.

Please continue to share our crowdjustice page as widely as possible to help us reach our target!

Although we need to raise more funds to cover the legal and professional fees of the technical expert, it is heartening to know that there are many people like you who care as deeply about the countryside and AONBs as we do.

A big thank you to you all!

FYI The strategic planning committee of Dorset Council is due to meet at 10 am on Monday, 6 September 2021.The action group is working feverishly and will continue throughout the weekend to gather and send as much information as possible to the councillors to help them to make a balanced and informed decision.

Your support means a lot to all of us members of the Action group. We are all rather anxious about the meeting on 6 September 2021 but hope for the best.
