Who are we?
Save the Parks Special School is an action group made up of professionals and parents of children with SEND who attend or have attended the Parks School.

Summary

Rutland County Council decided at a cabinet meeting to close the Parks School. This leaves Rutland’s most vulnerable children with no state maintained specialist setting at all!

Call to action

We need the help of the general public to raises the legal fees so that we can fight this decision.

What are we trying to achieve?

We want RCC to reverse their decision! Disabled children are some of the most vulnerable in our communities and as we know, it takes a village to raise a child!

What is the next step in the case?
We’d like to thank all of the people who have pledged to help us raise our initial target. We are pleased to say we achieved that and legal proceedings have begun. On the 13th of March, the pre action letter written by our solicitors was served to Rutland County Council. This letter sets out the grounds for our case. A response is expected from Rutland County Council by the 24th of March. We will update you as we know more. Many thanks.

How much I am raising and why?
We have achieved our initial funding target of £5000, but we now need to continue to achieve our stretch fund target of £12,000. This is money that will be used to pay costs if we are ordered to. We are very grateful for our community’s continued support.

Many humble thank yous,

The Save the Parks Action Group
