I am a resident of Lane End opposed to the destruction of AONB at the edge of our village. This proposed development goes against NPPF guidelines and against WDC's own Principles for development.

Who are we?

SAVE GOLDEN GUFF is a campaign started by residents of Lane End against the planned destruction of a unique field, an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which buffers the northern edge of the village from Finings Wood, a protected Ancient Woodland. Wycombe District Council and two local landowners have conspired with a developer to include Golden Guff (currently used by Lacey's Farm for grazing cattle) as "RUR1, land south of Finings Road" in the Local Development Plan. They want to destroy it in order to build expensive houses.

Summary:

The legal case is that RUR1 is "undeliverable", as building an access road would require a Section 38 application to the Secretary of State for permission for access and change of use. Such permission is unlikely to be granted and would be vigorously opposed by the Chiltern Conservation Board, as well as by local residents, the Parish Council and our Ward Councillors in Wycombe District Council.

The Campaign has engaged a solicitor who has sent a letter to the Council asking for RUR1, Golden Guff, to be removed from the Local Plan. It has so far refused to comply, so the case is likely to run.

What are we trying to achieve?:

We need to pay for the solicitor's initial time and expense and build up a reserve for future use.

What is the next step in the case?:

We need to engage a barrister to review our case and advise on our next course of action.

How much are we raising and why?:

The initial cost of the solicitor is £2,040 and we need to raise a further £1,500 for the barrister and his preparation.

Thank you very much for helping us to save this wonderful field for future generations to enjoy the deer, birds, foxes, amphibians and bats which traverse it daily and nightly.
