Beeston and District Civic Society has established The Save Beeston Town Hall campaign to protect a publicly owned asset from sale.

On 17^th October 2018 Broxtowe Borough Council voted to sell the Town Hall in Beeston to the Cornerstone Church at a price of £425,000. This involved the rejection of a proposal by Beeston Town Hall Community Project for a leasehold arrangement which would see the building managed in future by a charity representing the whole local community.

The Council did not follow its own land disposal policies; did not make an Equality Impact Assessment; and adopted decision criteria biased against a community asset transfer.

We therefore believe that the Council has rushed into a decision which is both unwise and actually unlawful and we are taking action.

We further believe that the Council has failed the people of Broxtowe by attempting to sell the Town Hall at an effective undervalue to the detriment of the community.

If the decision is set aside, the Council will be forced to reconsider the future of the Town Hall taking everything into account.

We are therefore raising funds to apply for a judicial review to quash the decision, and desperately need your support.
