Threat to Shooting on the Bereleigh Estate
Threat to Shooting on the Bereleigh Estate
William Tyrwhitt-Drake is defending the Bereleigh Estate against a private prosecution for noise nuisance.
The Bereleigh Shoot in Hampshire, run by the Tyrwhitt-Drake family for over 60 years, has become the focus of a criminal court case.
William Tyrwhitt-Drake is fighting a private prosecution that seeks a noise abatement order from a Magistrates’ Court which could threaten an integral part of the Bereleigh Estate’s well-established and highly-regarded shoot.
The case has been pursued by a neighbour complaining about the noise created by pheasant and partridge drives around his property, including drives in the renowned Mascombe Valley.
The case has been reported in the national press. The possibility that the case will encourage complaints about shooting noise from other game shoots is only too obvious.
The dispute has so far run for two years. The trial is currently ongoing. 21 days have been spent in court already. As might be imagined, the legal costs are substantial. They have so far been met by William Tyrwhitt-Drake. I am now looking for your kind support to help to underwrite those legal costs.
