I am taking this action because I believe in justice . I am doing so with the help of my legal team N Johnson QC (Exchange), J Akhtar (Millennium) and ABR Solicitors.

This is a crowdfunded private criminal prosecution case against two police officers of the Nottinghamshire Police force. The case concerns the alleged infliction of grievous bodily harm  by the police upon Rashaud Edwards and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

The officers are accused of attacking Mr. Edwards in the Meadows area of Nottingham in December 2016, when he was forced to the ground and struck three times by an officer targeting his head and neck area with a police baton, causing his jaw to fracture in two places. It is alleged that those officers then made false allegations against Mr. Edwards, who subsequently faced a trial himself for assault but was found not guilty. The Magistrates’ Court at the trial considered that the force used by police was excessive. Both officers are still in active service.

The case is being investigated by a specialist firm of solicitors, who have instructed leading and junior counsel. As with all criminal investigations and trials, there is no guarantee of success, although there is already medical evidence which supports the alleged use of substantial, excessive force, together with video footage of the incident itself.

All the money raised will fund the various requirements of the investigation and prosecution. The officers involved in this incident are innocent unless proven guilty.

We are initially looking to raise £25,000 to ensure that we can commence proceedings

Thank you.
