Changing the rules mid-cycle is unfair.

Doctors are already in interviews. Careers are already in motion. And yet, the goalposts are being moved.
The Current Situation
• We are writing on behalf of a group of doctors seeking to legally challenge the Medical Prioritisation Bill 2026.
• We are raising funds to pursue legal action against the government’s Bill, specifically as it applies to the 2026 specialty recruitment cycle.
• Our Concerns:
• Proposed changes are being applied mid-cycle to doctors already employed within the NHS.
• Many have made significant career, financial, and professional commitments based on existing rules.
• The policy uses immigration status as a proxy for NHS contribution, despite many international medical graduates (IMGs) having worked for years in frontline roles.
Our Legal Strategy
• At this stage, we are not pursuing litigation. Our aim is to obtain formal legal advice from an experienced public law firm and senior counsel to understand whether the proposed approach is lawful and what options, if any, are available.
• We have instructed a well-established UK public law firm (Kingsley Napley) who have a number of experienced public law solicitors with decades of experience in public and administrative law. Any further steps will be guided entirely by their advice, and any specialist barristers they recommend and work with.
Funding and Logistics
• Estimated Cost: £10,000–£15,000 for initial full legal advice and detailed assessment.
• Fund Management: All money raised will be held directly by the lawyers.
• Surplus: Any surplus will be returned to CrowdJustice in line with their usual policies.
• Target: We intend to pause the crowdfunder once the stretch target of £15,000 is reached.
How to Support
• Contribute: If those who are able contribute around £50, we can quickly reach the clarity needed for thousands of NHS doctors.
• Share: If you are unable to donate, sharing this page within IMG networks is equally valuable.
• Updates: We will provide regular updates throughout the process.
Thank you for your support and solidarity during an uncertain time.
