I am a 62 year old veteran and retired fishing guide. I have been a cannabis activist for 40 years. I am disabled and was on 13 pharmaceutical poisons until three years ago when I changed to cannabis.

We were arrested after drones were used on our heavily treed property. We were charged with manufacturing marijuana after sheriffs found a small amount of leaves and a smaller amount of seeds. We were held in disgusting drunk tanks for 14 hours. We had a ridiculous bond that took our money we'd saved for a well. We took a plea deal that resulted in a five year probation and almost $10,000 fine and fees. This was done to keep my wife who suffers from severe anxiety from prison. I am a veteran and this is my first arrest ever at age 62. I am disabled and part of the probation stipulates no cannabis use even in states where it is legal. I refuse to take pharmaceutical poisons because I have almost died multiple times from following Dr.s prescribed uses. I have been a cannabis activist for more than 40 years and was the NORML director for Athens Georgia. Our attorney has given us a major break on her fees and we need help with the remainder of the bill. I am disabled and receive less than $900 a month to live on. This has cost us our home and we have to move back to Florida because we fear the arresting officer who has a very dangerous reputation. We were warns by the DA here to watch our backs as well as being told the same thing from other law enforcement personnel who know him. All said and done this arrest has cost us over $25,000 not counting the loss of our home. If I don't pay the fines I go to prison for 10 years.
