We are fighting to seek justice for my son. More laws need to be brought in to how bailiffs are allowed to treat and intimidate people who are struggling with debts.

We are desperate to seek justice for my son JEROME, alongside his older brother and two younger sisters, we don't want Jerome's suicide to be swept to one side. I am Tracey, Jerome's mum, and I live in Croydon, South London. Until 7th March 2016, Jerome was a lovely, adorable young man, just starting out in life. Whilst doing the job he enjoyed as a motorcycle courier for citysprint JEROME was issued with 2 penalty charge notices, one for being in a bus lane a minute before the allowed time of it being legal and the other ticket for doing a u-turn. Jerome wasn't earning enough to pay the fine within the time given and the charges built up. Eventually a bailiff turned up with a warrant for just over a £1,000 to be paid, Jerome's bike was clamped, we paid off £500 and an arrangement was made to pay the rest off.

4 weeks later a return visit was made by the same bailiff with another warrant for not fulfilling his agreement in the very limited time given, Jerome had only £200 left to pay , BUT, with this subsequent visit ANOTHER £300 was added putting it back up to over £500 and his bike clamped, and no longer able to use it to go to work to make any  further payments!!!!! ...Futhermore he was told that he would have to pay storage for his bike being taken away and a release fee. Police were also called by the bailiff to add further humiliation to my son even though there was no breach of the peace taking place.

The bailiff on both visits had been at our house for 7 hours!!!

After this second visit , the bailiff left and my son left the family home and went to our local woods and hung himself.

Jerome had never suffered from depression or given me any concerns that he would do such a devastating action, in fact he always spoke positively about his future plans and life !!

The complete devastation this has brought to me and my family is indescribable. We are not well off, and need £3,000 - £5,000 to fund our legal campaign to seek justice from the firm that threatened him in this completely unnecessary manner.  It is illegal to harass someone who is paying off a debt according to an agreed schedule, and it is illegal for bailiffs to remove the tools of someone's trade.

We have civil rights solicitors fighting our case.

We need to change the way the council are allowed to issue penalty charge fines so easily, without taking the individuals finances into consideration, the revenue that councils make in fines is in the millions!!!

Your donation, however small, will be hugely appreciated.
