When we launched our crowdfunding campaign in September 2025 to fund expert legal representation for Mrs A, the response was extraordinary and we reached our target in less than four days.  That support ensured that her case could continue to be properly represented.

Today, we need your help once again.

In 2023, the Boots Pension Scheme was ‘bought in’ with Legal & General. As part of the ‘buy-in’, the ability for thousands of deferred members to take an unreduced pension at age 60 was removed.  For many members this has resulted, or will result, in a significant reduction to their expected retirement pension.

Two lead cases are currently progressing through the Pensions Ombudsman’s complaints process: Mr F and Mrs A.  The outcome of these cases will affect all of us.

Mrs A is an individual Boots Pension Scheme member, just like many of us impacted by these changes. Unlike Mr F, whose case is being supported by the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) and is backed by expert legal support, Mrs A has no organisational backing.  The Ombudsman selected Mrs A to represent and advance points not covered by Mr F’s complaint, and those issues could affect many other members and pharmacists alike.

According to the latest update from the Pensions Ombudsman, the Adjudicator is reviewing submissions in both lead cases before presenting findings to the Ombudsman.  While the details of the process remain confidential, we do know that Mrs A now requires additional expert legal advice to support her submission, and we have been asked to raise £5,000 to fund this next step.

Throughout this process, Mrs A has continued to stand up on behalf of all affected members against powerful opponents - Boots and the Scheme Trustees. 

If Mrs A succeeds, the outcome will set a precedent that benefits those in the same position.   This has never been just about one individual.  It is about fairness, justice, and standing up for what you believe to be right.

Together, we have already shown what is possible. Now we have the opportunity to do it again and give Mrs A the expert support she needs.

Time is critical. There are fixed deadlines that cannot be missed. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help ensure that Mrs A has the strongest possible representation and the best possible chance of success.
