We’ve launched this crowdfunding campaign to raise £10,000 urgently needed to fund expert legal representation to fight for justice following the transition of the Boots Pension Scheme to Legal & General. 

In 2023, the Boots Pension Scheme was ‘bought in’ with Legal & General. As part of the ‘buy-in’, the ability to take an unreduced pension at age 60 was removed for thousands of deferred members of the Scheme.

As many of you are aware from The Pensions Ombudsman website, two important ‘lead cases’ are currently going through the complaints process. The outcome for these cases will affect us all.

One of them — Mr F’s case — is being funded by the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) and is backed by expert legal support. The other — Mrs A’s case — is not.  The Ombudsman selected Mrs A to represent and advance points not covered by Mr F’s lead case, however they could also apply to some pharmacists.

Mrs A is an individual, just like many of us, whose pension has been or will be significantly reduced. Unlike Mr F, she does not presently have the backing of an organisation. She is standing up alone to represent us against powerful opponents — Boots and the Trustees — without the resources to access specialist pensions legal advice. Between them, Mr F’s and Mrs A’s complaints cover all the core issues identified.

If Mrs A succeeds, the outcome will set a precedent that benefits those in the same position. That’s why we’re launching this crowdfunding campaign — to raise £10,000 urgently to fund expert legal representation for her complaint.  This isn’t just about one person — it’s about fairness, justice, and standing up for what you believe to be right.
