When we heard about the state of affairs in relation to the mother and children we were overcome with compassion and provided food and support for her legal and medical appointments.

AK, a young, Sikh mother of two children, aged 5 and 6, was sadly diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in April 2017. She is in the advanced stages of this illness, with a medical prognosis of a very limited life span of less than a year. She is currently receiving palliative care, having lived beyond the predicted time . The father has drug and alcohol problems and abandoned the family after the diagnosis, which led to the children being accommodated with foster carers. Hopefully, the mother may be able to place the children with her brother and his family, from abroad.

One of AK’s final wishes is that both children, who were born in the UK, but are currently stateless should exercise their legal right to become British citizens. Funding is needed for the Home Office fees and some related costs.

The local Sikh Community Centre and Temple have been supporting the family with child care needs and also food, and liaison at hospitals and appointments. Your financial support for the childrens naturalisation applications, and for the mother's reassurance that they are secure, will be much appreciated.
