Donate to secure e-bike fire survivors justice!
We are the survivors of a devastating fire caused by an e-bike battery. We need your help to take action against the bike manufacturer and our landlords.
Our flatmate, Mizanur Rahman, died in hospital after our flat at Maddocks House, Shadwell went up in flames in the early hours of 5 March 2023.
The fire started after an e-bike battery that was charging began sparking and suddenly burst into flames. We lost all their personal items. We have been deeply traumatised by the fire.
At one point there were 20 of us staying in the two-bedroom flat, which had black mould and bed bugs, but no fire extinguisher or fire doors. We were living in overcrowded, uninhabitable and inherently dangerous conditions.
Our landlords were convicted of several offences under the Housing Act.
Now we want justice. We are taking legal action against the company who produced the battery and their landlords, so that defective e-bike batteries are no longer sold, and so that tenants are no longer exploited. Watch more about it here.
We need to raise money to fund our action. Please donate today, so that we can hold the people who took so much from us to account. Thank you.
