Matthew Berlow is a Glasgow-based lawyer. He was one of the founders of the Glasgow Friends of Israel street stall which can be found in Buchanan Street every Saturday. Because he is openly pro-Israel he has long been hounded by stalkers, including in an antisemitic manner. Two years ago he was fined by the Scottish Law Society for calling the viciously anti-Israel Scottish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign ‘scummy racists’ after their supporters hounded an Israeli businessman (and friend of Matthew’s) out of Scotland.

Matthew formed a plan to entrap one of his stalkers.

The plan was that an accomplice – using a pseudonym - would propose to the stalker that they daub anti-Israel graffiti over Matthew’s house. After the stalker played along, he would be exposed. The plan was successful. On social media Matthew commented that it was ‘typical SPSC behaviour‘. He did this in order to boost the credibility of the plan even though he was aware that the stalker himself – as opposed to his alias - might not have a connection to the SPSC. Matthew’s throwaway comment opened the door for a complaint to the Scottish Law Society by Mick Napier who heads the Glasgow branch of the SPSC.

You can read the full story here.

Matthew has again been summoned to appear before a discipline tribunal of the Law Society.

This crowdfund is to help cover Matthew’s legal and other expenses connected with the tribunal. Matthew is a victim of the SPSC – its supporters even started a petition to have him struck off. You only have to look at Mick Napier’s comment on hearing of the passing of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks to get the measure of him and the SPSC:

We surely cannot avert our eyes to this assault from the enemies of Israel. We must support Matthew. Please give what you can and please share this crowdfund with friends and family, both in the UK and abroad.

Thank you.
