West Oxfordshire District Council has proposed one of the most progressive plans for a Net Zero Garden Village in the UK. The plans have attracted support locally and from climate campaigners, but central government planning Inspectors say the plans do too much! The Inspectors say that central government policy requires that less be done. That these plans are too ambitious!
It isn't right and it isn't fair that local communities who ARE working to tackle the climate crisis are being prevented from action by central Government.
We are raising £15,000 to fund our High Court challenge to the planning inspectors attempt to water down the net zero ambitions of West Oxfordshire's plan for Salt Cross Garden Village. We need your support: please contribute and share this page now!
This is one more move to centralise powers that take decision-making and control away from local communities. This could prevent your local community from taking action that will make life better for you and your neighbours, and protect you from the impact of climate change.
We are challenging the Government on the basis that the planning inspectors have misunderstood national policy. We must prevent the Inspectors' report on Salt Cross Garden Village from setting a dangerous precedent that will discourage and prevent other net zero developments across the country.
We need to raise 15,000 to fund our legal challenge and stop central Government from overruling local communities' plans to tackle climate change.
Thank you so much for your support
