I was unjustly expelled from the Labour Party earlier this year. I have appealed and I am now waiting for a hearing to determine if my expulsion should be overturned or not.

Here’s my story…..

I was elected as a councillor in Dover District Council in May 2023, and I was the Deputy Leader for 2 years. In January 2025 I was suspended by the Labour Party following an allegation by the Labour MP for Dover and Deal, Mike Tapp, that I ran an X/Twitter account that supported independent candidates during the General Election of 2024.

This is not true.

The evidence provided by Mike Tapp MP was partial and misleading. He omitted to provide evidence in his possession that clearly indicated that the account belonged to someone else.

The owner of the account came forward and provided a statement confirming that the account was hers and that no-one else had access to it. I was nevertheless expelled in April 2025, because the panel believed Mr Tapp and not me or the owner of the account.

I have instructed Bindmans LLP to support me in my appeal against my expulsion as what has happened to me is unjust and wrong. The Labour Party have ignored the evidence put to them and expelling me has had a negative impact on my role within Dover District Council.

The process of appealing is as opaque as the process of defending the initial allegations. I have received no named contact, no confirmation of receipt of any communication (other than auto responses), and no timeframes.

It’s so important to challenge the Labour Party and their unjust processes - the labour movement has historically fought for fair processes and rights for all but this Labour Party is freely eroding them.
