  1. Set a realistic goal for how much you need to raise and explain what you need the money for.

  2. Explain why your case is important and the potential impact if you win, then ask a friend who doesn’t know much about the case to look at it and tell you what they think could be improved. Once you’re happy with it, ask your lawyer to check it over.

  3. Before you launch, spend time planning how you will promote it.

  4. After you’ve launched: share, share, share. Don’t be shy about emailing people directly, and posting on social media every day. (Yes, every day!)

  5. Keep supporters updated as you go.
