"I want to turn my experience into an opportunity to support more women to speak out about the abuse and harassment they suffer, no matter how powerful the perpetrator. Join me and #RoseArmy to raise money to support women to speak out." - Rose McGowan
Rose McGowan is a survivor and a feminist whistle-blower, who spoke out about powerful Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein and the culture of secrecy, silence and complicity in Hollywood that covered up decades of his abuse and harassment towards women in the entertainment industry.
In speaking out, Rose inspired the #MeToo movement and her own social justice movement #RoseArmy. Now she is fighting to raise funds to make sure other women are able to raise their voices and speak their truth to help end rape and other violent crimes against women. Please join the campaign by contributing to this page and sharing on social media.
Despite immense pressure and harassment from Weinstein, his lawyers, his PR people and his ex-Mossad agent private investigators who infiltrated her life and sought to undermine her credibility and her account of Weinstein’s abuse, Rose has shown how it is possible for women to speak out about abuse against men, no matter how powerful.
Rose wants to turn her experience into a positive opportunity to support more women. For this reason, in the name of #RoseArmy and with their support, she is raising funds for organisations which assist women who need support to speak out about the abuse and harassment they have suffered.
All funds raised will be transferred to End Violence Against Women, a UK-wide coalition of more than 70 specialist women's organisations working to improve justice and support for women who suffer from sexual assault or violence. They include Rape Crisis, Refuge, Women's Aid, Equality Now, Against Violence and Abuse (AVA), The Fawcett Society and Respect.
The EVAW coalition also includes organisations that work with women who have been silenced to date through the use of non-disclosure agreements. In addition, EVAW provides crucial policy and communication support to organisations protecting and empowering women to ensure their voices are heard in the media loud and clear.
Jennifer Robinson from Doughty Street Chambers, a leading international free speech and civil liberties advocate, is working with Rose to make sure other women are given the help they need to speak out.
