My story:

During the early months of 2016, I suffered from severe depression due to the breakup of my marriage and the death of my father.

I started to gamble heavily using loans, payday loans and money lent to me through family and friends. At this time my salary was £26,000 per year after tax.

Within a period of 6 months between February 2016 and August2016, I had deposited £65,127 and withdrawn £10,300. A huge amount of money. Between the period of 02/03/2016 – 29/08/2016 I had wagered over half a half a million pounds worth of bets. I complained to the betting operator, they have stated I was not a compulsive gambler and that they had not breached the gambling commissions codes of practice in relation to responsible gambling.

My gambling had no method, no control, bets were made throughout the day and night on random football games around the world. This clearly shows a player who has a gambling addiction. This type of behaviour was displayed on a daily.

I did not inform the betting operator that I was finding it difficult to manage my gambling. I was a gambling addict. I spent thousands of pounds I didn’t have. The addiction was so powerful that this did not cross my mind. The responsibility is the operators, not the player. The betting operator consistently allowed me to deposit huge amounts of money and bet huge amounts to reduce their losses as they clearly identified a player who rarely withdrew his winnings. My transaction history and pattern of behaviour clearly identified me as a a gambling addict yet the betting operator did nothing to prevent me from continuing with this addiction.

When I complained to the Betting Operator they claimed that they had closed my account due to Responsible gambling. This was not true and it was actually myself who closed my account. I cannot believe that they can get away with such lies and deceit.

At no stage did the betting operator identify the appropriate level of management who may have initiated customer interaction. At no stage was I refused service or barred me from the betting website. It is clear that the betting operator had no processes in place to identify at risk persons.

This addiction cost me my home, my car and nearly my life.

The betting operator make hundreds of millions of pounds in profits every year And it is clear that they prey on gambling addicts like myself.

I want justice for myself and hundreds of other gambling addicts across the country.

I have spoken to a legal firm and they are very interested in taking my case on. This legal firm have been successful in disputes against other gambling operators.

My Case:

I need to raise £1,200 so they can complete an initial assessment of my claim.

The betting operator need to be held accountable. They believe they can get away with destroying people’s lives. I want them to appear in court and be made to listen about the lives they have torn apart.

Thank you for listening.
