Success for Hunt Sabs and hunted wildlife!

THE CASE

A hunt protester was arrested in the field and accused of aggravated trespass.  The hunt claimed that they were "trail hunting" and therefore that their activity was legal.  This is not true.  Hares were being actively hunted on that day and the protestor was trying to save the life and unnecessary suffering of animals.

WHAT DO WE NEED?

We need to raise £1,200 for additional legal fees to defend the protester in court. We need your support- please contribute and share this page now!  Even a small donation will be welcomed.

WHAT ARE WE TRYING TO ACHIEVE?

This is an important case for the future of "trail hunting" in this country.  If the hunters win, they will continue to chase and kill our wildlife with an easy excuse in the courts.  The 2004 Wildlife Act will be further weakened.  More innocent Protesters will be arrested, detained and charged.

HOW MUCH ARE WE RAISING AND WHY?

This case has gone beyond the means of the accused.  We need £1,200 now so that she is represented in court by an excellent team of human rights lawyers.  If the case continues, we may need to raise up to £2,000.

WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP IN THE CASE?

The case is being heard on the 10th of May 2018.  We need to win this case.

Success for Hunt Sabs and hunted wildlife!

The case was heard on the 10th of May 2018.  The huntsman was asked why he videoed the briefing and a trail being laid.  He answered "to cover our arses."  Here again is yet more proof that "trail" hunting is a myth and a cover for killing animals for fun.  He also said that he was unable to film the full hunt as he couldn't wear a go-pro camera on his riding hat due to "health and safety" measures.  The policemen riding the quad bike now "regrets" his actions.

Additional evidence came to light half way through the trial which would have provided important support for my defence.  This had NEVER been seen by my solicitor and included details given by my colleagues in the field that day which would support our claims of illegal hunting.  Why was this concealed?

The case then collapsed and I was free!

Without your help and support this may not have been the result.  Thank you everyone for your contributions, no matter how small.
